Product Tests (mechanical and electric testing of complete hangers)

Catenary components will be exposed to higher and higher requests. Particularly rising speeds and the long durability requested put new challenges to technique.

"New components", that shall be released for installation in catenary systems, must be tested objectively, comparably and in a realistic way corresponding to the actual impacts and according to mandatory regulations. (fig. 1 - KRUCH development: short-gliding-hanger - approval process)

"Old components", that are already in use for several years, are to be tested for their suitability for new, increased requests. (for ex. - Dutch gliding hanger - in use for >20 years) Technical Specifications

KRUCH took notice of the market requirement for hanger testing and achieved an appropriate development and investment in testing facilities and constructed partnerships. By this KRUCH is able to test hanger systems at most versatile stressings:

The KRUCH hanger without thimble is a complete new approach for a safe, current-proof suspension of catenary wires, excellent to assemble and regulate. Installation is done by one screw only, first fixing the dropper cable (also called drop wires), secondly the contact wire / catenary cable, designated for automated workshop-preassembly and rapid “on track” installation. Reject due to false-length of hangers is minimised – the hanger can be regulated at any time.

The spark-free & current-proof connection replaces all other electrical jumpers and balances the electrical potential in the system at each dropper (improved system performance, reduced wear).

The flexible “hanger without thimble” by KRUCH is the first choice for modern railways with focus on installation time and electrical performance!

The Ultra Short Gliding Hanger is a hanger solution for system heights between 45mm and 100mm and is available in different stepped sizes. It is used on track sections where the system height is reduced dramatically and a different hanger solution is required, for example under bridges etc.

While developing the Ultra Short Gliding Hanger KRUCH took all its customer requirements into account. The hanger is compatible with all grooved contact wires and enthuses users by the great ease it is installed with. Previous solutions consisted of many partly very small pieces (washers, nuts, etc) which had to be assembled on site, often under difficult conditions such as cold whether. The Ultra Short Gliding Hanger by KRUCH consist of only one part and a screw, to ensure that it can also be mounted without taking of ones working gloves. Only one tool, a 17mm spanner, is required. The hanger is made of stainless steel and is built very light to ensure the best possible catenary dynamics.

The messenger wire is protected by a plastic sliding shoe.

This new product for high-speed joints with crossing angles equalling or less than 12° was developed in a co-operation between EUROPTEN and KRUCH.

It replaces all so far used, complex contact-wire-crossing-systems with an easy to install and lightweight solution and simultaneously acts as a hanger in the crossing system.
