Safetrack Fishplate Bonds, also known as Rail Joint Bonds, are used to maintain reliable electrical continuity across bolted rail joints. They provide a low-resistance electrical connection between two rail sections and are commonly used in signalling, traction return and earthing systems.
Fishplates provide the mechanical connection between rail sections, but they do not always guarantee a stable electrical path over time. Corrosion, vibration, dirt and mechanical wear can increase the resistance across the joint.
Fishplate Bonds bypass the mechanical joint and create a dedicated electrical path, helping to ensure continuous current flow through the railway infrastructure.
Safetrack Fishplate Bonds are developed for railway applications where high electrical conductivity, mechanical flexibility and long service life are essential. The flexible copper construction absorbs vibration, thermal expansion and movement in the rail while maintaining a dependable electrical connection.
The bonds are installed using Safetrack's PinBrazing system, where the connection is made directly to the rail web without melting the parent rail material.
Safetrack offers Fishplate Bonds for different installation situations. Versions for unmounted fishplates are suitable for new installations and workshop preparation, while in-situ versions are designed for existing rail joints where the fishplates are already installed.
